ABNORMAL LOAD ALERT .. Drivers are asked to be aware of two slow moving and wide ‘abnormal loads’ that will be escorted through Wiltshire tomorrow (01/03).
The first load will enter Wiltshire at about 9.30am from the Quarries around Frome on the A361, before heading south west to the A303 via Warminster and the A36. It will then head eastbound along the A303 before leaving Wiltshire at Parkhouse into Hampshire. This move will consist of a Quarry Excavator some 26.5m long and 5.5m wide.
The second load will then enter Wiltshire from Hampshire at around 1pm and will take the reverse route back along the A303 and the A36 to Warminster town centre and the store of WM Morrisons Ltd, Weymouth Street. The load will measure 4.6m wide and is made up of a modular building under escort from Bridlington, East Yorkshire.
Owing to the width of the loads, they will occupy both lanes of a single carriageway road. As a result, they will be both slow moving and come with the potential to create congestion in places where oncoming traffic will be required to pull in and wait for the loads to pass.
Wherever possible, any disruption will be kept to a minimum although both hauliers and motorists are asked to please be patient should they come across this move.
Anyone travelling on or around the affected route over this period on time critical matters should allow sufficient additional time for their journey.
